Andros Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Andros Restaurant on Wilson Avenue feels a bit like dropping into a beloved neighborhood diner where time slows just enough to share a meal and a conversation. The hum of quiet chatter blends with the clinking of coffee cups and the rhythmic shuffle of servers weaving between tables, creating a space that’s both familiar and inviting. Whether it’s early morning or the quiet hours after midnight, Andros holds a steady, welcoming pace — a place where comfort meets sincerity.
This is the kind of spot where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the savory scent of home-style cooking. The atmosphere is effortlessly unpretentious, a natural gathering place for families and late-night wanderers alike, drawing in those seeking honest flavors without fuss. It’s a canvas for everyday moments — from the gentle warmth of morning waffles dusted with powdered sugar to the satisfying snap of a grilled chicken sandwich shared across the table.
Here, the menu reads like a personal collection of classics touched by thoughtful care. Dishes range from the hearty and familiar, like eggs Benedict or crispy chicken fingers, to seafood favorites with subtle, fresh twists—shrimp scampi and fried fish find their place alongside rich, indulgent treats like chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake that end the day on a quietly celebratory note. Andros embraces variety, making room for those craving a wholesome breakfast, a cozy lunch, or a comforting dinner at any hour.
Behind the scenes, there’s a gentle hum of warmth in the staff’s attentiveness — friendly faces who move with steady efficiency, fostering a sense of ease and belonging even during late-night visits. This is a place where you’re equally likely to find locals settling in for a familiar meal or newcomers discovering flavors that linger long after the plate is cleared.
Andros holds an understated charm that’s hard to pin down but unmistakable once experienced: a laid-back gathering spot tucked into Newark’s fabric, where simple pleasures and genuine hospitality create lasting, human moments.

By far my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Definitely come visit here if you’re visiting etc. Fava was insane, mussels were my favorite along with the scorpion fish!! Definitely try these amazing dishes! Wine was also absolutely exceptional it was from Crete, Greece and it was so amazing!

For being a 24hr store, it satisfies what I needed after a long day. I’m not a native so I was happy to see something was open at 1am. The service was very friendly and efficient. The food wasn’t anything special, but it got the job done when I needed it, which was what mattered the most. Overall I’d come back if it was after midnight and I’m hungry.

It’s been over a month since my trip to Newark/NYC and I still think about the food I ate at this restaurant. I ordered the ceviche, it was my first time ever trying the dish and it was the best thing I ate the whole trip!! My sister ordered a warm fish soup, I wish i knew the name; the waitress said it was her favorite. It. Was. Amazing. If I ever visit the area again I will be back!

Absolutely Fantastic! The food was fast and super fresh, reasonably priced. The place was sparkling clean and smelled great. But the very best part of the experience was the service! Kathy was the best waitress I've had in years - customer service is not dead. Thanks Kathy!
